Paper Nests
Paper Nest grew from Karen’s interest in creating something organic from the rigid, familiar structure of a book. Hand-torn pages are rolled into individual paper tuiles and attached to a wire skeleton, allowing each module to take on its own irregular shape, depth, and movement.
The natural tones of the pages create a soft, textural surface, with fragments of the original typography still visible throughout. Select tuiles are dipped in diamond dust, catching the light with a subtle sparkle that shifts as you move around the work.
Designed exclusively as a site-specific installation, Paper Nest is never confined to a predetermined shape or configuration. Individual modules can gather tightly together, extend across a wall, or move around architectural elements, giving Karen the freedom to build a composition that belongs specifically to that space. No two installations take the same form.
